Late night news: the appeal by the Spaniards has been upheld ML is found in breach for not keeping stays, attached throughout the race. The judgement feels it had no significant outcome and thus no reason for disqualification. But let's fine another 10k euros. And re-run the race. Pray tell how the logic of no significant outcome is balanced by re-running the races that can change the outcome? Sorry, but this is local boy favoritism. Beat 'em again ML!

More waiting for the wind to pick up... Which it does, with heavy clouds, rain, lightening & everything shifting around. Tomorrow will be a better day.

7 flights are left. A few thoughts:
  • Organising committe should have started earlier. GLobal warming and the higher frequency of extreme conditions is here. Expect more daily postponements as June nears.
  • The bottom three are eliminated
  • if one grants the 4 points to Desafìo against Team Germany and China Team, the gap with fifth place is 7 points. That bounces Areva out.
  • of Desafìo's other 4 matches only one has a high probability.
  • ML with 7 races left (thus 30 points max) must win 5 minimum. Three against the bottom feeders, plus those against Shosholoza and Victory. Real tough... (the loss against Areva looms large)
  • Victory, with 6 races left (also 30 points max), must win at least 4. With Areva, +39 and DE on slate, that is more likely.
  • Or one of the big ones trips up, opening up a royal way for one of these three.
Flight 5 has Oracle against LR. One of the two will end up being 1 point from qualifying. ML must take its points against +39, as Desafìo and TNZ fight it out. If TNZ wins, Desafìo will have Victory hot on their tail (as Team Germany is up for the taking).
